A recent letter writer interpreted liberal "code speak."
I counter with well-worn conservative talking points: "Wealth redistribution," quickly followed with "Obama is a socialist," and further defined as "take from hard-working folks and give to shiftless, lazy welfare recipients."
The American Socialist Party unequivocally disavows President Barack Obama, but the scary lie blends nicely with "we successful folk are being fleeced by moochers." As a liberal, speaking for others in my "cult," we'd like all freeloaders to be disenfranchised as there are thousands of worthy, struggling Americans needing a helping hand. We just don't think the high end of the "wealth gap" deserve lower taxes and more take-home pay. The ever increasing wealth inequity is a fact, folks, brought to you by patriotic American job creators, busily creating jobs anywhere but in the U.S.
The letter writer translated "eco-friendly" as expensive nepotism ploys, omitting his true concern: Profit margins will suffer at the expense of breathable air, potable water, arable land and a livable planet. He warned of the government's thinking it knows more about church doctrine than the church. Interstate commerce and insurance laws are not religious documents.
The conservative indictment of "leftist big government" is egregiously hypocritical when compared to the rights claim of small "limited" government, with its highly intrusive, prejudiced edicts regarding abortion, contraception, gay rights, voter suppression, et al. They legislate our morals, but not their financial dealings. Beware, indeed.
