The annual Gullah marsh tacky taces have been a joy to attend and watch the past few years.
It is and should remain a Gullah event. I am surprised that other sources are trying to usurp and take over what is a native islander celebration.
I read in the Packet that an off-island organization is trying to keep local residents from racing their ponies in the annual race. Not only that, but threatening to have them arrested if they even take their horses out of their carriers on race day. What authority does this group have to summon local law enforcement and attempt to have someone arrested? Such arrogance.
It is time for the good people here on Hilton Head Island to speak up and support their friends and neighbors.
Never miss a local story.
