The March 24 front-page story about Off Island Thrift Store's "brushing aside" critics is outrageous and deserves a front-page apology to this operation for your choice of a headline.
This organization has helped so many people over the years that it should receive high praise for everything it does. Our daughter contracted cancer about 23 years ago (and died), and Off Island Thrift supplied her with crutches, bedding and more things she could not afford to buy herself. The store delivered large articles with a smile.
The stores are very clean and well-organized, and provide this community with almost any item (excluding food) a poor person might need to have a decent living environment at a cost most anyone can afford.
I know from personal experience that Off Island Thrift will gladly work with anyone having medical problems aside from cancer to provide things people need. I urge you to visit the store and see just how much they have to offer to this community.
