The letter writer who equates today's political process to the NFL and Super Bowl perhaps should have used an analogy to professional "wrassling" that would better describe our present predicament. There's no compromise there, just showmanship and animalistic incitement.
To shed a little enlightenment on the actual process of Constitution-constructing back in the late 18th century, and successful governing that has been our good fortune to experience during most of our nation's history, compromise has been the one thing, the solitary tool, that has allowed the country to be successful when it has been successful.
Our potential demise as a freedom-loving entity is threatened today by two political parties that are focused only on gaining or retaining political power. The moderation of sound conservative and liberal ideas, and those ideas in between, which has been our cornerstone, seems to lie only in the will of we the people, not they whom we elect to represent us.
If we continue to send the same old "they" to elected positions, then the writer is correct. We will be governed and eventually ruined by a Coach Belichick or Coach Coughlin politician. Where is a Coach J. Madison, Coach A. Hamilton, Coach C.C. Pinckney when you need them?
