I was very pleased to see the story about the University of South Carolina Beaufort softball team. The expansion of athletic opportunities speaks well of the school.
What was most impressive and proper, in terms of logic and reason, was the naming of the team throughout the article as the Sand Sharks. No demeaning Lady Sand Sharks was used. When no teams are the "Gentlemen" whatevers, no team should be the "Lady" whatevers. Let's see this editorial practice extended to the high school level as well.
Many years ago, I convinced New Jersey's largest newspaper to stop giving a score-listing subhead the title of "Girls Softball," as boys softball did not exist. Like Fox News, references should be fair and balanced.
