Recently, I read a column in the New York Times by Nicholas D. Kristof and thought at the time that it should be required reading for all Republicans. I also wished that somehow The Island Packet could run it.
Imagine my delight when I opened the Feb. 4 editorial page and found the same column. After re-reading it, I couldn't help but wonder what members of the real GOP, the Grand Old Party, must be thinking as they look around at the current slate of candidates. They must surely be shaking their heads and saying, "Is this truly the best that we can do?"
