Medical science indicates that you can't die of a broken heart.
No matter what the medical reports indicate, I believe Joe Paterno, the great legend, died of a broken heart. Joe was not only a great coach, he also was a leader, a family man and one who thought of others, not himself. His financial contributions to Penn State were enormous, his love for "Happy Valley" was unbelievable.
He will be missed not only by all the players he coached, most of the alumni of Penn State, close friends and family, but also by Americans like me across our country.
When the books are written about "Papa" Joe, the chapters in that book will far exceed the one soiled page about a mistake he made in not following through on the Jerry Sandusky situation. Joe admitted he should have done more. Let us think of Joe as the great person he was.
Never miss a local story.
