Cue the marching bands.
House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, has introduced the outline of a Republican jobs-creation plan. The key part of the plan is to eliminate federal regulations that are a disincentive for employers.
While he did not specify the laws he would target, here are some possibilities:
Minimum-wage laws. Employers would hire lots of people for $3 to $4 an hour.
Social Security and Medicare. Eliminate new employees from Social Security and avoid the tax on both the worker and the job creator.
Occupational Safety and Health Administration. Leave it up to the employee to be careful and work safely. It's his life.
Environmental Protection Agency. Polluted air and water shouldn't be blamed on companies that are just trying to increase return to their shareholders.
We will just have to see how many of these modest proposals are adopted by the Republican-controlled House of Representatives.
