Your July 13 story, "Light bulb bill goes dark in House," shows that the Republicans are either not able to remember, or they are just trying to blame everything on President Barack Obama.
To quote their leading presidential candidate, Rep. Michele Bachmann, "Under President Obama, we bought a bureaucracy that now tells us which light bulbs to buy."
Bachmann was elected to Congress in 2006, so she was in Congress when the bill was presented. The bill was crafted in 2007 by Rep. Fred Upton, a Republican, and signed by President George W. Bush. Upton is now the chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, and he has recanted his vote for this bill.
So is the GOP suffering from group amnesia, or is it just playing to the tea party? We all should look for the truth instead of believing political rhetoric.
