A Texas organization called the "Former Majority Association for Equality" awards college scholarships to under-privileged white men only.
It claims not to have any racism or bigotry on its agenda and points to the fact that its vice president is black and that there are two women and two Hispanics on its board.
Let's return to the "lipstick on a pig" reference. You can dress it up any way you wish, but anytime an organization bases its identity or mission on race it is racist.
I admired Martin Luther King Jr. for a couple of reasons: the nonviolent, peaceful nature of his protests and his quest for equality (not special treatment) for all people.
Never miss a local story.
The NAAWP would be as racist as the NAACP. The Caucasian College Fund as racist as the Negro College Fund. The Congressional White Caucus as racist as the Congressional Black Caucus. This list could go on, but you get the idea.
The longer we tolerate organizations defined by race, the longer we will fuel the racial divide.
