I recently traveled to the new May River High School for an unbelievable concert by students and community band. These concerts had two pieces dedicated to the Florida school that suffered losses too great for words.
But the S.C. 46 highway is way too small to accommodate all the traffic to and from the New Riverside community, and all the traffic to and from Savannah.
So my question is: When will it be widened?
Certainly, we have many live oaks in our communities, but on S.C. 46 (especially at night or rainy days, but really on any day), these live oaks only bring dangerous conditions to motorists.
For every tree that is removed to widen the highway, a new one could be planted on New Riverside Drive.
This new Highway 46 would save lives.
