On Dec. 15 at 9:45 a.m., volunteers and supporters of Hilton Head Regional Habitat for Humanity will gather at The Glen, Habitat’s new community on Hilton Head, to raise the walls for Women Build, a house funded by women and built by women, which will become home to a single mom and her children. All community members are invited to participate in this joyous celebration.
The entire Hilton Head community has come together to help Habitat in its mission to eliminate substandard housing from the Lowcountry.
The Town of Hilton Head Island generously donated 14 acres for The Glen. Women in Philanthropy generously made a $50,000 grant, the largest it has ever awarded, to Habitat for the construction of the Women Build House while local groups raised an additional $20,000 to complete construction.
Local women are encouraged to volunteer to help with construction and may register to do so by visiting Habitat’s website at habitathhi.org. There will be skilled construction workers on the construction site daily, so no specific construction experience is necessary.
Never miss a local story.
Hilton Head Regional Habitat for Humanity invites other members of the Hilton Head/Bluffton community to join us as we celebrate the commencement of construction on Women Build, the 10th house at The Glen, which will eventually be home for about 35 families.
