Officers with the Columbia Police Department are investigating an armed robbery that took place at a drugstore near downtown Columbia Saturday and have released surveillance photos in hopes that someone will identify the robber.
The robbery took place shortly before 9 p.m. at the CVS store, at 3595 Harden St. Extension, when a man walked into the store, pointed a handgun at employees and at least one customer, department spokeswoman Jennifer Timmons said in a statement released Sunday.
The man made victims get down on the floor.
He first demanded access to the pharmacy, but that area was locked and closed for business, Timmons said. Then the suspect demanded over-the-counter pain medicine and money.
A worker gave the suspect an undisclosed amount of money. The robber then left the store on foot. No one was hurt during the incident, Timmons said.
The suspect is described as a white man last seen wearing a dark shirt, blue jeans, a blue handkerchief around his neck, sunglasses and a reddish bandana on his head. He also had a black or dark brown mustache.
