State law enforcement officials on Friday announced the arrest of four additional suspects in last week’s deadly shooting of an S.C. State University student.
SLED announced arrest warrants had been issued on the charge of accessory after the fact of murder for the following men: Raymone Sinclair Reed, 23 of Charleston; Shannon Deandre Davis, 27, of Orangeburg; Darius Anthony Frazier, 23, of Cordova; and Kevin Alonzo Winningham, 22, of Orangeburg.
According to the warrants, all four men were with the teen who authorities say shot and killed Brandon Robinson, a student and Bulldog football player. Justin Bernard Singleton, 19, of Charleston, has been charged with murder.
The five men fled the campus of S.C. State together in Singleton’s vehicle, according to the warrants, and abandoned the vehicle in an attempt to escape.
Singleton was arguing with Robinson outside of Andrew Hugine Suites Hall, an on-campus dormitory, when Singleton pulled out a gun and fired at Robinson hitting him in the neck area, Singleston's arrest warrant alleges.
Singleton was enrolled as a sophomore business major, Mosely-Hawkins said. He was charged with public disorderly conduct by S.C. State University police in April, according to his arrest record. Singleton’s mother is an employee at S.C. State, Mosely-Hawkins confirmed.
Robinson, from Orangeburg, was a 20-year-old who played football for the university and studied industrial engineering technology.
“The S.C. State University family is devastated by the tragic loss of Brandon,” president Thomas J. Elzey stated in a news release. “Our hearts are heavy with grief and sorrow by the senseless act of violence, which took too soon a beloved member of our university family.”
Robinson was paying his way through college and all he wanted to do was play football for the university, Bulldog head coach Buddy Pough said in a news release.
