U.S. Sen. Tim Scott is one of the most beautiful people on Capitol Hill, according to his peers and a congressional newspaper's staff.
The list includes members of Congress, congressional staffers, campaign aides, lobbyists, executive branch employees and journalists. More than 500 people were nominated.
Only the top 10 are ranked; Scott is among the 40 unranked honorees.
Never miss a local story.
The profile of the 47-year-old Republican senator from Charleston focuses on how chance has changed his life. He planned to be a football player until he was injured in a car accident as a high school senior. Then he planned to run for lieutenant governor and eventually governor. But a House seat opened in 2010.
Then he was appointed to the Senate after Jim DeMint resigned.
"This is not where I anticipated I would ever be," he told the newspaper.
Scott says he has a "great" girlfriend, but declines to name her. The profile also mentions that he's a Dallas Cowboys fan, watches a movie every weekend and works out -- so he can enjoy butter pecan ice cream.
