Sanford spoke to Charleston radio station, 1250 WTMA, on Friday, giving more details on a pending trespassing charge filed by his ex-wife, Jenny Sanford.
The former governor said he and his 14-year-old son were at a Super Bown party at a friend's house. His son wanted to leave at half-time and watch it at home. Sanford said he went with him after unsuccessfully trying to reach his ex-wife to alert her of the change in plan.
Sanford also acknowledged as true Jenny Sanford's comments to The Washington Post that the victory party following his April 2 runoff win was the first time one of the couple's four sons had ever met Maria Belen Chapur, the woman Sanford acknowledged having an extramarial affair with in 2009 and is now engaged to be married.
"There was one boy there that she hadn't met and that is what it is," said Mark Sanford.
