A Ridgeland woman on her way home from work Tuesday says another driver threatened her with a gun, according to the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office.
The victim, 21, was traveling on eastbound S.C. 170 through Okatie just before 6:10 p.m. when she noticed a black BMW tailgating her and flashing its high beams, according to a report of the incident. When she came to a red light where the highway meets Snake Road, the BMW driver pulled alongside her and rolled down his window, the report said.
When the woman did the same and asked what was wrong, the suspect began cursing, pulled a gun and repeatedly asked her "if she wanted to die," the report said.
When the light turned green, the man drove away, but not before the woman saw his license plate number. She then reported the number to the Sheriff's Office, which did not immediately locate the vehicle.
An investigation into the incident continued Friday, Sgt. Robin McIntosh said.
