The self-guided tour is a fun way to get inspired for the holidays. If you're looking to enhance your coastal holiday decor, here's an opportunity to see exceptional designs in traditional and contemporary settings. Some of the best of Lowcountry living will be on display from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday.

Featured homes include:

Stella del Mare

David and Gail McRorie

This luxurious Italianate estate is a timeless beauty wrapped by the romance of the sea. Coastal holiday style is coupled with European ambiance at Stella del Mare's Toscana Centro, with spectacular panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean. Gracious interiors feature the utmost in Mediterranean luxury. Upon entry, Centro's allure of easy elegance creates an ocean haven of sumptuous silk-upholstered walls and antiquities collected throughout Europe. The grand staircase leads to the upper floors, just ahead ocean views shimmer beyond triple French doors to the terrace. The perfect setting for dining al fresco on the lanai with travertine flooring, fire pit and outdoor cooking system.

Rose Hill Plantation

Dr. Halbert and Peggy Ashworth

Winter's dusk falls upon this French country chateau, with lit spruce trees and bountiful wreaths upon mahogany doors. Family portraits line the arched entry to the great room with faux-painted Provence blue walls. Two seating areas bring intimacy to the space with golden tweed camelback sofas and chairs over a red Persian. The traditional French country kitchen has beamed ceilings and a fireplace. Custom cabinetry in dark pine is paired with green polished granite, a six-burner stove, copper-lined sinks, pasta faucet, two ovens and 2,000-bottle wine cellar with tasting table. Casual entertaining is easy on the lanai with rich mahogany wood flooring and an outdoor fireplace.

Rose Hill Plantation

C. Parker Cook Jr.

The circular drive wends by the courtyard fountain and lanterns cast soft shadows upon column gates, welcoming visitors to this European estate. Designer Katharine G. Cook's interiors bring warmth and charm to this villa, with an eclectic collection of 19th century antiques. English and French furnishings in rich woods of walnut, pine, chestnut and oak infuse the classic villa with a sense of history and old world style. By the grand piano, the 12-foot Christmas tree is magnificent in red, white and gold. Arched walls warm the generous room with 27-foot ceiling, and comfortable groupings add casual influence. Above the mantle, an early Walter Greer shows the beginnings of his well-known lily pads.

Alex and Barbara Kasten

Visitors are greeted with the enchanting sights of silver and gold Christmas trees shimmering with hand-blown glass ornaments lit in colors of amber, gold and violet.

Magnolias and cardinals alight in the main room's 10-foot tree, a Southern beauty lit with 1,200 lights, and Santas gather by the game room where the Santa Tree and Christmas Village come to life. In the library, leather books line the walls. The master suite is serene and lovely -- soft linens in rose, yellow and green cover the New England canopy bed paired with Dunlop tallboy and 18th century English watercolors.

Hilton Head Plantation

Stan and Sue Goodboy

Joyful Christmas bears greet visitors to this friendly contemporary. Deep-green walls and crisp white trim set the perfect scene, an inviting backdrop to admire this charming home set for the holidays, with a playful children's tree and lush gardeners' tree. The dining room table is festively set with Christmas china and the crystal sparkles beneath an elegant white glass chandelier from Venice. The living room opens to the gardens where a festive 12-foot tree holds court. With expansive window views, the lovely gardens are a fitting complement to the landscape oil by Flemish artist Bartholomaus, a fine example of the Hudson River School of art painting.
