Utility might raise water and sewer rates

The Hilton Head Public Service District Commission will consider at its next meeting raising water and sewer rates for all customers by 40 cents a month for water and up to $1 a month for sewer.

The commission is hosting a public hearing on the proposed increases at 3 p.m. July 28 in the PSD Community Room at 21 Oak Park Drive off Mathews Drive. If approved, the proposed increases would be effective Oct. 1.

The PSD is a public utility serving about 17,000 customers in the north- and mid-island areas of Hilton Head Island.
