3-car crash on Parris Island Gateway sends one to Savannah hospital
Burton firefighters had to use the "Jaws of Life" to free two men from their vehicles Tuesday morning after a three-car collision on Parris Island Gateway near Cleveland Drive, according to the Burton Fire District.
The Port Royal Police Department and emergency crews from Burton, Beaufort County EMS and the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office worked 90 minutes to free the two drivers and clear the roadway, according to the fire district.
One driver was taken by Beaufort County EMS to the Broad River Boat Landing, where he was flown by helicopter to Memorial University Medical Center in Savannah.
The two other drivers were transported to Beaufort Memorial Hospital, according to the fire district.
The identity and condition of the drivers were not disclosed.
