BEAUFORT -- The Naval Criminal Investigative Service is investigating the death of a 19-year-old Beaufort Marine found dead inside a home at Laurel Bay.

Lance Cpl. Joshua Harvey was found dead Saturday, according to a release from the Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort. Harvey was a guest in the residence where he was found, according to the air station.

Harvey, who was assigned to one of the F-18 Hornet squadrons at the air station, was not married and his next of kin have been notified, according to the air station.

The air station declined to specify to which squadron Harvey was attached.

Department of Defense policy requires bases wait 24 hours after the primary next of kin have been notified before informing the public of the death of a service member.
