A man naked from the waist down arrested at South Beach Marina faces additional charges for damaging a patrol vehicle and spitting on the deputy taking him to jail, according to a Beaufort County sheriff's report released Monday.

The incident began at 9:50 p.m. Thursday when a Salty Dog employee called Sea Pines security to report that a drunken man wearing only a shirt was walking through the parking lot, reports

said.

Jefferson Lee Garner, 25, of Landrum was arrested on a public disorderly conduct charge.

While handcuffed in the back seat of a deputy's cruiser, Garner allegedly urinated, threatened the sheriff's deputy and repeatedly spit on him. He also pulled out several wires under the driver's seat, the reports said.

Based on his behavior in the patrol vehicle, Garner was charged with throwing bodily fluids on a law enforcement officer and malicious injury to real property, according to the reports.

Three correctional officers at the jail restrained him and put him in an isolation cell, where he banged on a glass window and shouted.

He was being held Monday on a $16,355 bond.
