Two area men face felony charges of domestic abuse
Two southern Beaufort County men face felony domestic violence charges for unrelated incidents that occurred early Sunday morning.
• Stephen E. Gilley, 43, of Hilton Head Island is accused of throwing his 34-year-old girlfriend against the wall and punching her several times in the face and head in a home they shared at Xanadu Villas, 34 South Forest Beach Drive.
Gilley held a knife to her throat and threatened to kill her, according to authorities.
She was cut on her finger and called for help while Gilley showered to wash her blood off, the report stated.
Gilley was charged with high and aggravated criminal domestic violence and taken to the Beaufort County Detention Center, where he remains on a $25,000 bond.
He also is being held on theft-by-taking and battery charges out of Georgia, according to the Sheriff's Office.
• Jose L. Hernandez-Sanchez, 38, of greater Bluffton is accused of repeatedly punching his 36-year-old wife in the face inside their home at Bluffton House Apartments, 20 Simmonsville Road.
Her daughter witnessed the fight, according to the report.
The victim gathered up her children and fled to her sister's home, where a medic responded to tend to her injuries.
Hernandez-Sanchez was found hiding under a bed and was charged with high and aggravated criminal domestic violence.
He posted a $10,000 bond Monday.
