Bluffton allows payments of court fines online

Bluffton recently became the first municipality in Beaufort County to allow residents to pay their town fines online instead of at town hall municipal court.

When submitting payment for fines online, however, residents must pay two additional charges.

The first is a $1 fee for paying online. The other is based on the amount of the fine. Both fees are sent to the state, while the fine payment is credited to the town's bank account.

The town saves money when residents pay fines online because it eliminates merchant fees charged to the town for credit card payments.
