17-year-old girl stabbed in back in motel lobby
PORT ROYAL -- A Florida girl was stabbed Wednesday while working on a computer in a Port Royal motel.
Elisa Flores, 17, of LaBelle, Fla., was sitting at the Port Royal Days Inn lobby computer at about noon when a 15-year-old boy walked in and stabbed her in the back, police said.
According to Sgt. Mike Chapman of the Port Royal Police Department, after stabbing Flores, the boy ran out of the hotel and was arrested by police officers at Oak Hill Terrace off Ribaut Road. The boy, who did not resist arrest and admitted that he stabbed Flores, was turned over to the S.C. Department of Juvenile Justice.
The boy did the same thing two years ago when he walked into a grocery story and stabbed someone in the back, Chapman said.
Chapman said that Flores did not know the boy or why she was stabbed. She was visiting from Florida to attend a graduation at Parris Island Marine Corps Recruit Depot. She was treated and released from Beaufort Memorial Hospital on Thursday with non-life-threatening injuries.
