* not seeking re-election
At a group filing event the Beaufort County Republican Party held Monday, several more candidates announced runs for local offices. Here are some the local seats up for grabs, the incumbents and an updated list of candidates.
This list of partisan candidates is unofficial, pending the March 30 filing deadline. Filing opened Sunday. Petition candidates also can have their names put on the ballot if they meet a July 15 deadline. Primaries are June 10, runoffs June 24, and the general election Nov. 4.
Four members of the Beaufort County Board of Education are also up for re-election, though the nonpartisan seats don't go through party primaries. Their filing deadline is Aug. 15 at the Beaufort County Elections and Registration office. School board incumbents are Reid Eikner, District 3; Laura Bush, District 4; Earl Campbell, District 6; and George Wilson, District 10.
