Police offer reward for information about Buck Island Road shooting
The Bluffton Police Department is offering a reward to anyone who provides information leading to an arrest in the Oct. 24 shooting of three teens at the Sam Bennett Sports Complex on Buck Island Road.
The department did not say what type of reward it would provide. Sgt. Christian Gonzales said the reward depended upon the information provided.
A 16-year-old Beaufort High School student was shot in the head around 2:15 a.m.
Dante Smalls remains in critical condition at Savannah's Memorial University Medical Center, where he was flown after the shooting, according to police reports.
Two Hardeeville teens -- Cleveland Edwards, 19, and Brandon Lee, 18 -- who also were shot were treated and released from Coastal Carolina Hospital in Hardeeville soon after the shooting, police said.
Lt. Angel Tubbs said last week investigators believe an argument might have broken out, but they do not know if the victims were involved.
Police said those responsible for the shooting might have been driving a white Pontiac-type vehicle and described them as black men between the ages of 18 and 23.
Anyone with information should contact Detective Jason Pontz of the Bluffton Police Department at 843-540-4162.
