Al Segars will present "Whales of South Carolina" at 3 p.m. Dec. 3 at the Coastal Discovery Museum at Honey Horn.
Several species of whales -- including the North Atlantic right whale, one of the world's most endangered species of whale -- visit South Carolina waters in search of food or to give birth.
Segars, a S.C. Department of Natural Resources veterinarian, will discuss the natural history of the whales that visit local waters, and their threats and challenges.
Attendance costs $7 per person. Reservations are required; call 843-689-6767, extension 223.
The museum is at 70 Honey Horn Drive on Hilton Head Island.
