A juvenile bird of prey was rescued Friday morning from Ribaut Road in Beaufort, according to the Beaufort Police Department.
Dr. Frank Murphy, a veterinarian in Beaufort, was driving by when he saw the bird sitting in a traffic lane near Reynolds Road in front of the Technical College of the Lowcountry, Cpl. Richard Poole said. Murphy brought the bird back to his office and determined it had a broken leg, according to Poole.
Reached Friday, Murphy said he was not sure what type of bird it is because many juvenile birds of prey have similar markings. He planned to transfer it to the Center for Birds of Prey in Awendaw.
