The little 10-pound sea turtle named Amelia by the S.C. Aquarium Sea Turtle Rescue Program is once again swimming in the wild.
Amelia was found in a Hilton Head marsh in January. Temperatures were freezing and the water was around 50 degrees, too cold for a young sea turtle, according to the aquarium. Amelia's heart was beating just four times per minute and she could not breathe on her own.
The family called the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources, which brought Amelia to Charleston.
After some slow warming, breathing assistance and medication, Amelia began to recover. She was released with public fanfare off Kiawah Island on June 6.
