Why did the gator cross the road? My wife and I tried to find out

Somewhat frequently, readers submit photos of alligators in places they shouldn't be -- bike paths, screened porches, sewer drains. On the way to Hunting Island State Park, Managing Editor Jeff Kidd saw one crossing the road. He couldn't get to his smartphone quickly enough to record the 8-footer before it scurried into the woods. Fear not -- he and his wife gave chase. Here is a video of their search, as well as a few photos from their adventure.
