Webb Wildlife Center in Hampton Co. reliable place to see endangered red-cockaded woodpecker

Red-cockaded woodpeckers are specialized nesters, and the prevalance of the endangered species can be matched closely to the decline of longleaf pine forests. In at least two Lowcountry spots, however, both the trees and the birds thrive under managed care.
