The summer group of dolphins has returned. Unfortunately, the dolphin watch boats are also back.
Recently, I walked the beach at Braddock Point at low tide and stood at water's edge watching the dolphins feed about 50 yards away. Along came two red watch boats about 20 feet long. They each approached feeding dolphins within two boat lengths and stayed for about 20 minutes, circling among the dolphins the whole time.
NOAA Dolphin Watching Guidelines state, "We encourage you to observe them from a distance of at least 50 yards."
How are we going to get these commercial operators to play by the rules?
