This tussock moth caterpillar was photographed by Trudy Cass at Sea Pines Forest Preserve.
Trudy Cass submitted this photo of a bumblebee in a beer glass. We assume the bee slept it off on the ketchup bottle before flying home.
Trudy Cass also submitted this photo of a fiddler crab, taken at Mitchelville Beach on Hilton Head Island.
Trudy Cass submitted this photo of a tri-colored heron in breeding plumage, taken at Pinckney Island National Wildlife Refuge.
And one last one from Trudy Cass, which also is a first â” this painted bunting was photographed on her backyard feeder, and she said it was her first photo of the species.
Chris Morford of Bluffton took this photo while bicycling with his wife, Stella, at Jarvis Creek Park on Hilton Head Island.
Karl H. Duchardt submitted this photo of a juvenile white ibis, taken this year at Mitchelville Beach.
Debbie Silvan of Bluffton submitted this photo of an osprey and its chick.
Karl H. Duchardt also submitted this photo, taken in 2013, of a tri-colored heron at Mitchelville Beach.
Ed Parmer submitted this unusual photo of pelicans flying past kites on Hilton Head Island's Folly Field Beach, near The Sea Cloisters.
