The Seventh Annual Hilton Head Island Seafood Fest, hosted by the David M. Carmines Memorial Foundation, was held on Saturday at Shelter Cove Community Park. Here, Guillermo Lopez looks on as Shigeki Yamada prepares cabbage with octopus and Japanese barbecue sauce at the Kurama Japanese Restaurant booth. The event featured area restaurants and chefs serving up seafood specialties and other cuisine as well as live entertainment by Pitts ?n Core, The Headliners and Sara Burns. There was a Kids Zone, a silent auction, famous crab races, Cappy the Clown, Juggle Stuff, and more. Participating restaurants included Alexander?s, American Culinary Federation, Black Marlin, Cool Breeze, The Crazy Crab, Giuseppi?s, Hudson?s Seafood House on the Docks, Island Kettle Corn, Kurama Japanese Restaurant, The Old Oyster Factory, Pino Gelato, Red Fish, Skull Creek Boathouse, Street Meet and Tove's Cupcakes. The event serves as the foundation?s annual fundraiser with proceeds benefiting MD Anderson Cancer Research Center, the Island Recreation Scholarship Fund and the American Cancer Society.

Hazardous Materials Team members removed several buckets of possibly hazardous substances from a Property Preservation, Inc. truck that was involved in an accident on eastbound William Hilton Parkway between Arrow Road and Sea Pines Circle on Wednesday just before noon. The incident tied up midday traffic on the south end of Hilton Head.
