Get ready for some fun doings here in Bluffton. This is the time of year when lots of events and parties take place.
The Bluffton Firefighters Auxiliary will host its third annual breast cancer walk this Saturday. The 3-mile trek will begin at Red Cedar Elementary School and from there meanders to Hidden Lakes and along the Bluffton Parkway.
The entry fee for the walk is $15, and T-shirts for the event are $10 each. Proceeds benefit area Susan G. Komen for the Cure programs and the Women's Imaging Center at Beaufort Memorial Hospital. To join the walk go to www.blufftonfd.com.
The weather should be lovely for the walk, and you might discover some of Bluffton's hidden beauty along the way.
The kickoff party for the Arts and Seafood Festival will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Bluffton Oyster Factory Park sponsored by Tina and Larry Toomer.
It will be the first oyster roast of the season so it is something you won't want to miss. There also will be a shrimp boil and the Toomer's famous barbecue, a cash bar and live music.
So after the blessing of the fleet and the gospel sing at The Church of the Cross earlier in the afternoon head over to the park for more fun. The festival will last all week with the arts and crafts sale Oct. 20 we all eagerly looked forward to.
Also, from 2 to 5 p.m. Oct. 20, you are invited to tour the home of Alexander and Barbara Kasten to view their marvelous collection of fine art. The Kastens' beautiful house is on the polo side of Rose Hill Plantation. This wonderful party will benefit Family Promise of Beaufort County.
This is the last opportunity for art lovers in our area to see these works before they leave for a tour throughout the U.S. The paintings in the collection are featured in the new book "Where Will You Travel Next?...Destinations in Paintings."
The $50 ticket includes an autographed copy of the book, and refreshments will be served. Tickets can be purchased at the Family Promise Day Center, 181 Bluffton Road, or by calling 843-815-4211.
On Oct. 27 get your clubs out and join in the third annual Wayne Hamby Memorial Golf Tournament, which will be held at Pinecrest Golf Club. The tournament will benefit the International Myeloma Foundation.
