I have proposed to Mayor Lisa Sulka and the Town Council that we celebrate our wonderful uniqueness one day a year.
The third Thursday in June of each year will be known as Eccentric Day. The day will be a day in celebration of all of our wonderful Blufftonians who have since gone on to their glorious pursuits in that "heavenly state of mind" -- and of those of us here on our little piece of terra firma still perfecting the art.
On Eccentric Day, I ask that each of us do one small act of kindness -- but not out of neccessity.
When the day is over, make sure you have left something good behind.
Never miss a local story.
Beauty comes and goes, but the kindness we show each other will last forever.
Remember to never lose yourself in the process of being a real eccentric.
As the great Yogi Berra once said: "When you come to the fork in the road ... take the fork." I think that perhaps that is how we all got here.
So Thursday is our first Eccentric Day.
Don't waste it.
See you at the farmers market.
