I am almost sure -- really sure -- that we are all getting into the "spirit" of the season.
My goodness, how could we help but do so after all of our merriment this past weekend? I saw several versions of that jolly old elf at the parade, and I must admit the old boy is getting younger and younger. Mrs. Claus, on the back of the town firetruck, looked absolutely beautiful in her freshly starched red dress. It is hard to fathom how those two can stay awake until all hours of the day and night and still look so refreshed. Must be something Mrs. Claus puts in her hot chocolate!
So, to all of you who still haven't made your Christmas lists, I have it on great authority that you'd better do it post haste.

If you have the time and the inkling, the Lowcountry Chapter of the American Red Cross is seeking volunteers. The agency is looking for people to help provide emergency services to those whose homes have been disturbed by a disaster. A new-volunteer orientation and disaster services overview course will be offered from 1 to 4 p.m. this Thursday and Tuesday at the agency's Palmetto Service Center at 59 Sheridan Park Circle in Bluffton. You must register to participate. Details: 843-757-7437, www.lowcountryredcross.org
I would like to remind everyone to ride around old town Bluffton and look at the shops and restaurants that have been decorated for the holidays. There are some really fun things to see. The winners for the decorating contest will be announced next week, so visit and see who you think is tops. It is really fun just to see all of the Christmas decorating everywhere.
I just wanted to say how proud all of us in Bluffton are of our Bobcats and of all of the students at Bluffton High School. Your team spirit was contagious and we were with you all the way! Way to go, Bobcats! You ROCK!
