What's the biggest lesson you've learned from your students?
The absolute best part of my teaching career has been how much I've learned, so this is a great question. So many important lessons have impacted me, from appreciating students' differences to understanding that mutual respect is the biggest foundation block for success. However, the biggest lesson I've learned from them is to appreciate the magnitude of my daily responsibilities in this profession, which must revolve around each of them. I teach juniors and seniors. Often they don't realize how close they are to being on their own. I know the truth of how quickly time passes, though, and I also know that I'm partially responsible for whether or not they make it out there. That's an overwhelming reality, which sometimes keeps me up at night. They've taught me that they need my best, and I've learned that they deserve it.
