Hundreds of students from Bluffton Elementary, M.C. Riley Elementary and Red Cedar Elementary schools received a free pair of shoes or boots and a pair of socks Saturday through The Rotary Club of Bluffton's Happy Feet program, according to a news release.
Rotarian Deborah Burt coordinated with school social workers to select the students most in need.
Principals, teachers and Rotarians volunteered at Payless ShoeSource in Bluffton to hand out 250 pairs of shoes and socks to children.
The club raised $3,000 and received a matching grant of more than $6,000 to pay for the program, which is in its seventh year.
