The inaugural Swinging with the Superintendent golf tournament Monday raised more than $135,000 to support a new scholarship program, according to the Beaufort County School District.
The scholarship will cover as many as two years of tuition at the Technical College of the Lowcountry for Beaufort County high school graduates who have at least a 3.0 GPA.
Revenues from the golf tournament will accumulate in an endowment fund, but recent high school graduates can use the scholarship immediately because of a donation from the Know2 nonprofit organization, the district said.
On Monday, Know2 added $26,000 to its initial donation, for a total of $61,000.
Never miss a local story.
