Sophomore Cain Richards was named as the recipient of the 2013 T. Reynolds Robinson Scholarship. The $1,500 scholarship is awarded by his family, in celebration and remembrance of their son -- a Beaufort Academy student who died in 1989 at the young age of 13. Recipients must possess strong leadership and athletic ability and the respect and friendship of classmates, in addition to maintaining a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.0 during the seventh, eighth and ninth grades, according to a news release. The award was presented by Reynolds' brother, Clark Robinson (BA '87), and his parents, Betsey and Bill Robinson.

Students are each seeking sponsors to support them in their reading. Sponsors can pledge money per minute read or make a one-time donation in support of a particular student. All funds raised will go toward the purchase books for classroom libraries, storyteller Tim Lowry's upcoming visit this winter, science laboratory supplies and Capstone Fieldwork for our second, fifth- and eighth-grade students.
