The Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort Officers' Spouses' Club is accepting applications for merit scholarships to graduating high school seniors and continuing education students pursuing an undergraduate degree. Applicants must be a dependent of an active-duty service member currently stationed at MCAS Beaufort or a dependent of a retired or deceased service member stationed at MCAS Beaufort while on active duty. BATTERY CREEK HIGH SCHOOL
All students planning to attending prom must come to the prom assembly meeting at 6:30 p.m. April 25 in the McVey Performing Arts Center. Students must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Prom tickets will be given out at this meeting.
The Parent Teacher Student Organization is accepting nomination forms for the 2013-2014 school year. Nominations are being sought for president, vice-president, secretary and treasurer. The Athletic Booster Club is also accepting nominations for the 2013-2014 executive board. Teacher Melissa Hincher was recently named the South Carolina recipient of the James Madison Graduate Fellowship. Hincher will receive $24,000 to use toward a master's degree of her choice in education or history and will attend a summer institute at Georgetown University. Named in honor of the fourth U.S. president, the fellowship is given annually to recognize promising and distinguished teachers and strengthen their knowledge of the origins and development of American constitutional government.

The 14th Sheldon Township Community Forum will be held from 8:30 a.m. to noon April 27 at the school. Topics will include health and wellness, education, jobs and the economy, and youth development. The school received a $250 cash award for their participation in the BELK sponsored "Plaid About Reading" program. This reading incentive program is designed to promote reading while incorporating schools and scholastic involvement in the RBC Heritage Presented by Boeing.
