Rising senior Devin Oliver, one of Palmetto Electric's 2012 Washington Youth Tour winners, was selected to represent other students on the national Youth Leadership Council as the 2012-13 YLC National Spokesperson. Devin was chosen as the spokesperson based on his speech "E Pluribus Unum," which means "out of many, one." Devin also will represent Palmetto Electric Cooperative and South Carolina next year at the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association Annual Membership Meeting.

The school will present the third annual Coastal Clean Water Festival from 5 to 10 p.m. Sept. 15 at Shelter Cover Harbour on Hilton Head Island. The free evening's festivities will include live music by The Chilly Willy Band and Domino Theory with Candace Woodson, as well as other professional and local high school bands. There will be an entertainment area for kids, local food vendors and educational booths for environmental groups.
