A Ridgeland woman was charged with unlawful use of 911 after calling and reporting a false shooting and hostage situation on Saturday, Ridgeland Police public information officer Sergeant Tim East said in a release.
Ridgeland Police responded to a 911 call at South East Pyrotechnics at 11142 N. Jacob Smart Blvd. at around 11:15 a.m., according to the release.
Officers from the Ridgeland Police Department, Jasper County Sheriff's Department and Hardeeville Police Department arrived on the scene and secured the perimeter of the business. However, when officers entered the building they found no hostages and no shooting victims.
One person was detained after crawling out a second-story window and a second person was detained just inside the front door of South East Pyrotechnics.
Amanda Baker, 30, of Ridgeland, was charged with unlawful use of 911 after calling and reporting a false call to dispatch.
