The trial for a father and son charged in the shooting death of an 8-year-old Hilton Head Island boy has been postponed from next week to February, according to the 14th Circuit Solicitor's Office.
Aaron Young Sr. and Aaron Young Jr., both charged with murder in the death of Khalil Singleton on Sept. 1, 2012, have also been indicted on charges of attempted murder, Solicitor Duffie Stone said. They are accused of trying to kill a third defendant, Tyrone Robinson, who was convicted in September of murdering Singleton.
The 8-year-old boy was killed while playing on Allen Road, struck by a stray bullet from Robinson's gun as he fired at the Youngs.
Stone said the Youngs' defense attorneys asked Judge Thomas Cooper Jr. to postpone the joint trial because of the new charges and other slight changes in the wording of the murder indictment.
Never miss a local story.
Both the defense and prosecution are also waiting to receive transcripts of Robinson's trial, Stone said.
