A 28-year-old Hilton Head Island man turned himself in Friday in connection with the felony assault of his ex-girlfriend, according to the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office.
Marcus Fripp and the victim were arguing last week at their Union Cemetery Road apartment when he reportedly cut her twice on the arm with a kitchen knife, Sgt. Robin McIntosh said. Fripp is also accused of stealing her phone and car keys and trying to stop her from leaving or calling 911. However, the victim broke free and called for help, according to McIntosh.
One of the wounds required stitches, the Sheriff's Office said.
In 2006, Fripp pleaded guilty to assault and battery with intent to kill, but received a suspended sentence, according to court records.
