A Ridgeland home was destroyed in a fire Wednesday afternoon, according to Jasper County Fire and Rescue Chief Wilbur Daley.
Crews called to Hill Road home about 1 p.m. found flames burning through the front and roof of a single-story home, Daley said. Firefighters extinguished the fire but the home was destroyed, he said.
"(The fire) had a pretty good head start on us," Daley said.
A female resident was not home at the time and no injuries were reported. Daley said the cause of the fire was undetermined.
