A Bluffton couple is offering a reward for information leading to the arrest of a man accused of sucker punching one of them into the hospital.
The Charleston Post & Courier reports that Billy and Ashley Schilling were enjoying a date on Upper King Street in Charleston when a man made a crude remark at Ashley Schilling. Billy Schilling, 26, confronted the man, who walked up as if to apologize, only to punch him in the face. Schilling's face hit the sidewalk and his skull was fractured. He was knocked unconscious, the newspaper reported.
Schilling, a personal trainer, boat captain and liquor distributor, could face months of recovery. The couple also has a 7-month-old son.
The Schilling family is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to a conviction. The attacker and three men accompanying him Saturday eluded responding officers. The attacker is described as a 6-foot to 6-foot, 4-inch white man with a stocky build, short light brown hair, a polo shirt and khaki shorts.
Anyone with information about the attack should call county dispatchers at (843) 743-7200 and ask for the on-call Charleston police detective. Those wishing to remain anonymous and be eligible for an award should contact Crime Stoppers at (843) 554-1111.
