A Bluffton woman running in her neighborhood Monday was bitten by a dog, according to police.
The 33-year-old woman was running around a pond near Able and Sassafras streets at 7:25 p.m. when she passed a man with a pit bull and a young child, a Bluffton Police Department report said. The white and black dog, which weighed about 65 pounds, jumped and bit her lower abdomen, leaving bruising and two puncture wounds, according to the report.
The dog's owner, a 50-year-old Bluffton man, approached the victim, told her the dog had all of its shots, and then left. The man was later cited for having a dog at-large, the report said. He was then arrested on an outstanding warrant from Effingham County, Ga., for violating probation on a battery charge, according to the Effingham County Sheriff's Office. He remains in jail in Springfield, Ga.
